I took the above photo while on a trip to Hot Springs, AR with a friend.  That is Lake Hamilton at sunrise.  It was a very relaxing and renewing few days.

My friend has been a Southern Baptist missionary in Africa most of her adult life. She and her husband were home on furlough when she and I took this get away trip.  It was fabulous!  We agreed to have supper together and enjoy one another’s company in the evenings, but the mornings and afternoons we retreated away alone to seek the Lord.

We took time to have our own person devotions and quiet time with the Lord in the mornings.  She would go to one part of the house we stayed in and I went to the other.  We seldom saw each other in the morning. We usually took breaks at the same time for lunch so we shared our lunch meals together.  Then we would retreat back to our personal quiet space until evening. During this time we would seek God’s guidance for particular areas of our lives and work on goal and plans.

It was funny that every morning we each walked around the neighborhood, but neither of us realized the other was walking until we talked about our days.  I’m telling you, we seldom saw each other in the mornings.  Of course, the first morning I slept in (I won’t say how late – I was ashamed of myself). That must have meant that I needed the rest, right?

I’m telling you, I would love to do this a couple of times a year.  It was great to spend uninterrupted time with Jesus and to pull away from the business of life to focus on Him and His direction for my life.

When I looked back over my photos from the trip, this one really caught my attention.  I was reminded that we truly are without excuse.  After all, the heavens declare the glory of God. So I looked up the verse, added it to my photo and found canvasdiscount.com to have the canvas made.

I love how that one turned out so much that I had several other photos printed on canvas. If you want to check it out for yourself, just click on the link below. Plus recieve 15% off your order of $30 or more if you use this link:

Choose Life

choose-life.jpg

Life, as we know it, is fleeting.  The Bible tells us that - "life is but a vapor"- and the older I get the more I understand that truth.  We only have a certain number of days and none of us know how long that is.  So while you are here CHOOSE LIFE.

waterfall.jpg

This past week, my husband and I looked at a piece of property.  Hence the waterfall above.  That waterfall is on the property in which we are looking.  Hearing the constant loud sound of the water rushing by was, well, soothing.

It reminded me of life.  There are some constant things about life, there are some loud things about life and there are some soothing things about life. But just like that waterfall is vibrant and flowing right now, it does die out in mid-summer.  It dries up for about two months out of the year.

Today, we are vibrant and flowing with life, so choose life.  Use this time to live to the fullest.  Jesus said He came to bring life and life to the full.  Don't waste it!

Just as there are seasons in our world, there are seasons in life.  Some are hard, some are easy, some are sweet, some are bitter - a time for everything. In Christ we are overcomers.  We are victors!

Our family is entering a new season of life.  It's hard to let go of the past, watch the present as it changes and know that the future will be vastly different than what I had thought it would be.  But I am choosing life!

I am choosing to forgive, to let go of hurts, to embrace a new season, to live vibrantly in the full life that Jesus has already paid for and given to us. Whatever the circumstances - whatever our perceptions - whatever..., we have a choice to make.  This day - choose.

Choose LIFE!

'This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now chooselife, so that you and your children may live.'  Deuteronomy 30:19

Blessings! Wendy

What Are You Waiting For?

heresursign I think it was Jeff Foxworthy with the joke "here's your sign" or maybe it was an old song.  I can't recall for sure, but we are all familiar with the adage "here's your sign."

If you're like me, sometimes we know what we need to do but we put off doing it until we are absolutely, positively, completely and beyond sure.  Well, if that's you - HERE'S YOUR SIGN.

"I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime;"  Ecclesiastes 3:12

What is it the Lord is calling you to do? Is it a service in some way?  Is it to let go of something that you've been holding on to ...a habit ...a relationship ...bitterness? Is it to start something new? I know it may seem easy for me to write this when I have no clue what you are going through, but trust me when I say "here's your sign" applies to me ALL THE TIME!

Sometimes we use that phrase when something funny happens and it just fits.  But sometimes I wonder what we're really waiting for?  What am I waiting for?  I actually have a couple of things that I'm pretty confident I am being called to do.  Do you think God keeps putting people, suggestions and outright signs in my path telling me, yet again, "here's your sign"? I think He does, but He shouldn't have to.  All of us get trapped in fear at times.  Afraid to fail. Afraid of what others will say. Afraid of success...

To  you and me, "If you're waiting for a sign-THIS is IT!"

Blessings!

Enthusiasm

enthusiasm It's the last Friday of 2016...

What's your outlook into 2017?  I hope you are as enthusiastic as this little girl is!

In just 2 days we will usher in 2017 - ready or not!  I am looking forward to making this my best year ever!  Aren't you? Yes I know there are things that are outside my control, but I am enthusiastically ready to put 100% of effort into the things I can control: attitude and effort.

  •  Attitude
    • outlook on life
    • how I react to others
  • Effort
    • giving 100%
    • choosing where to put my efforts

"Do everything without grumbling or arguing,"  Philippians 2:14

I believe 2017 CAN be our best year ever if we ENTHUSIASTICALLY embrace what we can control, let go of the things we can't control and are wise enough to discern the difference!
Emerson said, "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."
So, get your "enthusiasm" on and make it a great 2017!
