Feet of Peace

I love that the scriptures say our feet are to be shod with peace.  I think that sometimes we stomp our way into a situation or we stomp our way out.  Whether we were right or wrong, we leave the other party feeling anything but peaceful!

When you have shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace you walk lightly around others.  I'm not saying you should have to walk on "egg shells" to spare hurting their feelings.  But you live with an attitude that life is not about YOU.  It's about Jesus and people coming to Him in salvation.

So when you walk lightly around others, you are not intentionally being hurtful or judgemental toward them.  You are trying to turn them from sin. Look at what Malachi says,

True instruction was in his mouth and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with me inpeace and uprightness, and turned many from sin.   Malachi 2:6

Turned many from sin... That's the goal.  Remember, we're in a battle, but NOT with each other!  Our adversary is the devil, not our fellow man.  I know that is so hard to remember sometimes. But when you can see that person as a soul that Jesus died for, just like He died for you, and you can see how that person may either be hurting and lashing out or being led by the devil then you can offer the gospel of peace in which you have already shod your feet.

So this week let's remember to shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace before we head out the door.

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.14 Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and havingput on the breastplate of righteousness,15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,          Ephesians 6:10-18
