Peace, Be Still

Last weekend, my husband and I worked at our new property in New Blaine, Arkansas.  The photo above is the Delaware Boat Launch near our land.  I was struck by the beauty and peace of this area of Lake Dardanelle.  If you turned and looked to the left, you would see the nuclear plant in the background, yet the water remained peaceful with the painted sky above it.

I would imagine there has to be some kind of delicate balance for the nuclear plant to work properly without any complications. I think that represents life sometimes.  We look at things and see beauty and peace but God sees the full picture with the nuclear plant that's hidden from our view.  He holds life in balance so we don't have to worry about it.

And what about all those times when there is a complication, you ask?  Well, God saw it coming, even if we didn't.  AND, He has it covered.  He will get us through the rough times, just like He does the peaceful times.

Our role is to trust Him all the time! Easy peasy, right?  Oh, I wish it were that simple.  But wait, it is that simple.  You see, God is good - all the time.  He loves you and me more than we can imagine.  He wants the VERY best for us, whether it's hard or not.

If we know He loves us and wants the best for us, then we just need to trust in His care.  He will heal our pain, mend our brokenness, and draw us into His arms every single time we trust in Him.

And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
— Mark 4:39

I know there are things I have not endured in this life, but one thing I know from the trials that I have endured, sometimes He calms the storm right before your eyes, and sometimes He calms you right in the midst of the storm!

Listen, do you hear Him? Shh.  Did you hear that?  I think our great God, Jesus Christ, is speaking..."Peace. Be still."
