Hide the Word of God in Your Heart

Psalm 119:11

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

When I think of hiding the word of God in my heart, I first think of memorizing scripture. And to be painfully honest, most of the scripture that I can quote from memory, I memorized as a child.

However, on the upside, there are many principles that I have learned from the Bible as an adult.  I may not be able to quote some verses verbatim, but I can usually go and find them if I need.  The meaning of said scripture is definitely hidden in my heart!

Some of those things are still works in progress, mind you.  They are there, nonetheless.  One of the ways I use to hide the word of God in my heart is by taking sermon notes.  I use a notebook that is solely devoted to Church and I take notes using these headings:

1.       Date

2.       Preacher

3.       Scripture passage

4.       Message notes

5.       Specific verses I want to remember

6.       How this applies to me

It’s amazing to go back and see the notes from the past.  Sometimes I am convicted all over again and sometimes I can see just how far Jesus has brought me! The latter is definitely the goal!

Blessings to you and yours!
