I recently went to Navarre Beach in Florida. The day was overcast and kind of dreary. While walking along the pier the colorful table and chairs really stood out. You couldn’t help but smile just a little at the bright “spot” on that dreary pier.
Now mind you had the day been gloriously bright, that same table and chairs would still have evoked a smile bringing a fun and lighthearted feeling to you.
That’s the kind of Christian I want to be! One who on a dreary day lifts your spirits and on the bright and happy day still sparks a little more joy.
Do I always do that? No, sadly not. But when I’m conscious of the influence I can have of those around me, I tend to do better.
Just this morning, in reading during my quiet time I was reminded of the influence we can have on those around us even when it’s evident our past has been lacking. I read about the Samaritan woman whom Jesus met at the well. He offered her living water that can never be quenched. She accepted! And in joy, she went and told her community about Him, bringing many to salvation!
Regardless of the circumstances that day, the woman at the well was a welcomed “pop of color” for many bringing eternal joy to those she influenced to meet The Living Water, Jesus.
How I want to be a “pop of color” in the lives of those around me!
To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is! Proverbs 15:23
