Verse of the Day
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
I’m writing this on Tuesday, the day before Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. What could be more on point than John 3:16 for the day this post comes out?
On Valentine’s Day we express our “Hallmark” feelings to our sweetie and Lent begins the 40 days of drawing closer to our Savior! Both of which we do out of heartfelt love. Scripture teaches us that Love is of God because God IS LOVE.
I don’t know about you, but as a Southern Baptist – Christian- I’ve never taken part in the traditional Lent with ash on your forehead and giving up meat. But this year, as I look forward to Easter (and Lent starting on Valentine’s Day) I can’t help but be reminded of just how much God loves you and me.
Just as He said in John 3:16, He gave His Son, Jesus, so you and I could have eternal life. That’s love! So as you turn your focus to “love” this Valentine’s Day, think about the Love Christ has for us. Perhaps, you, too, will want to draw closer to your Lord in the next 40 days.
