The Christian faith is meant to be lived out loud. We are to deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Jesus daily. We are to go and make disciples. There is NO such thing as a "closet Christian".
Sometimes God's call is tough - most of the time it's tough. God always seems to call us to go and do (with seasons of stay and do). Notice that doing is constant.
Let's look at a few examples:
- God called Abraham to leave his country
- God called Moses to go back to Egypt
- God called Noah to build a boat for a flood when it had NEVER rained
- God called Ruth to follow Naomi
John Cowling said in effect, "When you stop doing, you start doubting." Think about that. Isn't it true? When we are busy doing what God has called us to do we are confident in our calling, but when we stop we start doubting.
Don't you know in the examples above folks told them that surely they had misunderstood God's call. Why He wouldn't want you to leave, go back or build while preaching about doom. But that's precisely what He had called them to do.
It's hard to go against what our family or friends think, especially when God's call seems a little "out there". The choice is yours.
By whose definition will you live?
