Who do you serve?
I'm reading a book by Lisa Bevere. It's about finding your value in God, not in your self-image. In the book, she makes a profound statement about serving the creation rather than the Creator.
"When you serve what is lifeless, you die."
She talks a lot about how we get caught up in what others think of us, what we think others think of us and ultimately what we think of ourselves. We must know and trust the TRUTH, if we are to have LIFE. Jesus said,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." John 14:6
Even as believers we get caught up in the world's deceit and lies. As we learn that life is NOT about us but about Jesus, we can stop worrying with our self-image and start conforming to His image.
Do you feel the weariness and weight in life of trying to live up to what you think others expect or even what others say? When we give up our selves and trust our Savior, there is rest.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
So let me ask you again, who do you serve? If you and I are serving anything or anyone other that the LIVING GOD, we are serving an idol and it's lifeless. Take a personal assessment today (I have) and be sure you are serving Jesus. There is rest and freedom in Christ!
"So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."
